Suvayan De
My Story
Suvayan De is an accomplished academician with over 15 years of expertise in applied economic analysis and actionable data insights. He is conversant in using advanced analytical tools such as SAS, SPSS, STATA, IMPLAN, and EViews. Suvayan has led initiatives that enhance operations, reduce risks, and promote sustainable growth. Suvayan is well-versed in predictive modeling and business forecasting techniques and has directed complex programs, combining analytical precision with innovative strategies to deliver tangible results for organizations.

Suvayan De holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Economics from The University of Memphis, complemented by an M.A. in Economics from the same institution, as well as M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Economics from the University of Calcutta, India. He currently serves as an Associate Professor of Business and the MBA Program Director at the University of Charleston and has previously held the position of Program Director and Associate Professor of Economics at West Virginia State University. In addition to his academic roles, Suvayan De is an active member of the profession, serving as the President Elect of the Southwestern Social Science Association for the term 2024-2025 and as a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Happiness and Development, demonstrating his commitment to advancing the economics discipline and fostering scholarship.

Suvayan De’s research interests are at the intersection of linguistics, economics, and public policy. As an educator, he has developed and taught a wide array of courses, including Managerial Economics, Quantitative Methods for Business and Economics, Business Forecasting & Analytics, and International Business and Trade. He has also played a pivotal role in curriculum development, accreditation processes, and student recruitment and retention strategies at both the University of Charleston and West Virginia State University. Suvayan De's dedication to service is further evidenced by his involvement in various university committees, professional organizations, and community outreach initiatives, underscoring his commitment to the field and the communities he serves.
